The racing action continues in Scotland, as the second day of the Ayr Gold Cup Festival gets underway on Friday afternoon.
The bumper eight-race card gets underway with a 7f Novice Stakes at 1:00 and concludes at 5:00 with a 1m Handicap.
Our team have scoured through the contests in hope of pinning down some value across the card.
Here are three selections to consider for the second day of the Ayr Gold Cup Festival.
GOLDEN DUKE – 1:35 Ayr (8/1 – 888sport)
Under the guidance of Nigel Tinkler, Golden Duke may well have more to offer in the six-furlong Nursery Handicap.
The gelding flew clear of his rivals at Kempton in early August, resulting in a 13lbs hike in the ratings.
The two-year-old will be helped out by a 3lb claimer in the saddle and his price of 8/1 hints at each-way value in the contest.
PEGGY SIOUX – 2:10 Ayr (5/1 – Various)
After thundering home on her debut earlier in the month, Peggy Sioux is thrown straight into Listed company by her connections in the Harry Rosebery Stakes.
Kevin Ryan’s filly won comfortably on her first start at Hamilton, seeing off her rivals by three and a quarter lengths.
She clearly has something about her and looks to have an exciting future, with her price of 5/1 holding some appeal in this contest.
WHITE LAVENDER – 2:45 Ayr (9/1 – 888sport)
An interesting filly from Joseph Murphy’s yard, White Lavender could use her experience to her advantage in the Arran Scottish Sprint Fillies’ Stakes.
The three-year-old has shot up in the ratings as of late, thanks to finishing runner-up in the Doneraile Handicap at Cork and the Listed Abergwaun Stakes at Tipperary.
She could well have more in the locker after only making five starts, with her price of 9/1 looking interesting for this contest.
