CHESTER MAY FESTIVAL | Wednesday’s Mark The Card

The Chester May Festival gets underway on Wednesday, with plenty of flat contests for punters to sink their teeth into across this week.

The team have marked up the opening day’s card at Chester, in hope of finding some winners.

1:30 – ICM Stellar Sports Lily Agnes Conditions Stakes

Following two comfortable successes on softer ground, STAR OF LADY M could land a hat-trick of successes for David O’Meara here.

The filly clearly holds some potential and while there is a question mark hovering above her in terms of the better conditions on offer, she should be in the mix at the very least.

DUNNINGTON LAD has been handed a decent draw and his front-running style should suit him at this circuit if he gets off to a good start.

2:05 – tote.co.uk Free Chester Placepot Every Day Handicap

NAVELLO won the opener at the Chester Festival last year and he could well bounce back for George Boughey.

His draw isn’t terrible and he looks to be back at a workable mark here, with the booking of William Buick a huge plus.

HELLOMYDARLING is given her first start in handicap company and while she has a tough mark to defy, she could well put up a big run here.

2:40 – Weatherbys Bloodstock Pro Cheshire Oaks (Listed Race)

After an interesting debut success at Kempton last month, HELLO JUMEIRAH could be one to note in the Cheshire Oaks.

The Golden Horn filly put up a respectable performance on her first start under rules and her pedigree suggests she should be competitive over this trip.

THOUGHTS OF JUNE looks a promising prospect and while she does have two and three-quarter lengths to find on the favourite here, she could have a bigger say over this trip for Aidan O’Brien.

TYPEWRITER could be underestimated after a poor run last time out and she holds each-way claims in this contest.

3:10 – Boodles Chester Vase Stakes (Group 3)

Only four run in the Chester Vase, with our vote going to Aidan O’Brien’s CHANGINGOFTHEGUARD.

While it is obvious that New London is a talented sort and shouldn’t be ignored, he is quite close in terms of ratings in comparison to Changingoftheguard and the latter holds the better value in this contest.

3:40 – Deepbridge Handicap

Despite a disappointing run at Newcastle last month, GOLDEN WARRIOR could put up a better showing here for his connections.

The three-year-old has seen a sharp rise in his rating following his success at Kempton in February, but he looks capable and may well have more in the locker here.

BUCKSHAW VILLAGE holds a handy draw and he could run into the places after being stepped back up in trip for Richard Fahey.

4:15 – Edinburgh Gin Maiden Stakes

SECRET STATE looks the one to beat here, with the Dubawi colt showing potential on his first start at Newmarket last month.

The three-year-old is stepped up in trip here and his pedigree suggests he should be up to the task for Charlie Appleby.

ASEAN LEGEND showed some form over a mile and could relish the step up to 10 furlongs for William Haggas.

4:45 – Stephen Wade Handicap

A wide open handicap to conclude the action at Chester.

BROKEN SPEAR is now only 1lb above his last winning mark and while the conditions may not be preferred, he could benefit from the handy draw and put up a big performance here.

GOBI SUNSET is inconsistent at the best of times, but he has the King of Chester Franny Norton in the saddle and shouldn’t be underestimated.

OSTILLO could run into the places if he can rediscover his previous form.
