To mark on this day two years ago, today’s rewind takes a look back at Logician’s historic performance in the 2019 St Leger at Doncaster for John Gosden.

The then three-year-old was still unbeaten when heading to the Yorkshire track, winning all of his first four starts for his connections.

John Gosden and Frankie Dettori teamed up to win the 2019 St Leger with Logician

The Frankel colt went off as the 5/6 favourite for the contest and he took a keen hold of the race in the opening stages before being steadied by Frankie Dettori.

Approaching the home turn, Logician was at the rear of the pack with plenty to do but he began to make smooth headway with three furlongs remaining.

Detorri kicked his mount on heading into the final two furlongs and he responded gamely, meeting up with his rivals and pulling clear of them approaching the final furlong.

The colt stormed down the home straight and kept on strongly to win by two and a quarter lengths and set a new course record in the process.

Logician featured in two more seasons before being retired to stud last month.
