Saturday’s Daily Lucky 15 focuses on day one of the Irish Guineas Festival, which is headlined by the Irish 2,000 Guineas at 3:20pm.
Castle Star: 2:15pm – The Starspangledbanner colt won a Listed contest with relative ease here earlier this month and is back up in trip for James Stack. Aidan O’Brien has two potential stars represented but perhaps track form can prove decisive here.
La Barossa: 3:20pm – Charlie Appleby’s charge heads to County Kildare after a fine seasonal debut behind 2,000 English Guineas silver medalist and stable-mate, Master Of The Seas. He disappointed in deep conditions at Saint-Cloud back in October but won with a bit of juice in the ground at Ascot on debut, and that form now looks solid.
Epona Plays: 3:55pm – Willie McCreery’s filly ran a blinder at Naas when winning a top-level contest in March and that was in soft ground. She also finished third at this track previously and perhaps with a few question marks over some of those above her in the market, she may represent the value alternative.
Lust: 5:30pm – The son of Fastnet Rock won at Gowran Park in April and was probably overextended by the mile trip last time out, so a furlong drop looks a smart move by Ger Lyons. The ground shouldn’t prove too much of an issue and he’s taken to give another bold account in a much easier contest than the maiden he ran at here last June.
