It’s the third day of Royal Ascot and our team have selected our best four bets of the day for Thursday’s Lucky 15.

Ascot Gold Cup
The Gold Cup is today’s feature contest at Royal Ascot

Here’s our selections.

DOM’S PICKS

LUCCI: 2:30pm Norfolk Stakes (Group 2) – Wesley Ward has rattled the crossbar a few times so far at Royal Ascot but his two-year-old’s are always worth watching in Berkshire and it may be no different for the son of Not This Time. He landed a maiden at Belmont Park in good style and is now tongue tied for his second appearance.

STRADIVARIUS: 4:15pm Gold Cup (Group 1) – Unbeaten in this contest, John & Thady Gosden’s star chases a fourth win in this race as he bids to equal the record of the great Yeats. His five defeats since October 2019 have been over either a mile-and-a-half or two-miles, and he’s confidently taken to prove he is the king over the Gold Cup trip once again.

Can Gosden and Dettori team up to land the Ascot Gold Cup once again?
REECE’S PICKS

MOHAAFETH: 3:05pm Hampton Court Stakes (Group 3) – William Haggas’s colt was a late withdrawal from the Epsom Derby earlier this month but chases a fourth victory in a row here, having won in a common canter at Newmarket previously. The step up to this trip seems to have been the making of him and he’ll take all the stopping under Jim Crowley in Berkshire.

SUREFIRE: 5:35pm King George V Stakes (Handicap) – Ralph Beckett’s charge was seen off by Royal Ascot rival Siskany at Windsor in April but there’s plenty separating them in the weights here and the Fastnet Rock son won on handicap debut at Leicester since. He has a 6lb penalty to contend with but has been ultra consistent since his debut and gets a first crack at the mile-and-a-half trip.

Ralph Beckett
Will Ralph Beckett be toasting a Royal Ascot success in the King George V Stakes later today?
