Charlie Appleby’s three-year-old is unbeaten in Newmarket to date and perhaps enhanced his credibility when running a cracker in the Goffs Vincent O’Brien National Stakes at the Curragh, finishing fourth.

The three rivals ahead of him that day also made up the podium in the Dewhurst at the Rowley Mile a month later.

He was beaten in Meydan by stable-mate Naval Crown in February, but that form was hardly hit too hard when the same rival finished second behind Tactical here yesterday.

The field have to hope he hugely underperforms, with many of them needing to find plenty on ratings to pip him to the post.
