The final Classic festival of the season gets underway on Wednesday, with the four-day St Leger meeting kicking off tomorrow afternoon at Doncaster.

The action kicks off in South Yorkshire at 1:45 with a 7f Nursery Handicap and concludes at 5:00 with a 7f Handicap.

Our team have taken a look through the card in hope of pinning down another winner, after a 25/1 value tip landed success at Haydock on Saturday.

Here are three picks to consider for the first day of the St Leger Festival.

BULLET FORCE – 1:45 DONCASTER (9/1 – bet365)

Under the guidance of Karl Burke, Bullet Force could be of interest on his first start in handicap company for his connections.

The Cable Bay colt broke his maiden on his latest start, making light work of his opponent to score at Musselburgh last month.

The two-year-old looks to be a useful starting mark and he could be dangerous in this company, with his 9/1 price tag holding some appeal.

STATEMENT – 3:25 DONCASTER (14/1 – Various)

A three-year-old with plenty of experience in Group and Listed company, Statement could land some black type for his connections in the Sceptre Filles’ Stakes.

Martyn Meade’s recruit has been dropped back to seven furlongs here and she finished second on her sole Group start over this distance, behind dual Group 1 winner Alcohol Free.

She should appreciate the galloping track at Doncaster and her price of 14/1 is serious each-way value in this contest.

ROCK BOY GREY – 5:00 DONCASTER (8/1 – William Hill)

Aiming for a hat-trick of successes, Rock Boy Grey could strike in the 5½f Handicap for Mark Loughnane.

The gelding is given a tough assignment after 10 months off, with connections hoping he can continue his strong form from last season.

He has shown progress with two successes on his last two starts and he could well be in contention here, with his price of 8/1 holding some value.
