The enclosures and viewing stands you have access to at Epsom Downs Racecourse vary depending on which ticket was used to obtain admission to the site.
Different enclosures offer different vantage points, allowing you to fully customise your Epsom Derby Festival viewing experience at Epsom Downs Racecourse.
Some enclosures provide the finest views of the whole racecourse, while others provide precise views of the final post, parade ring, or winners’ enclosure, then some others provide the most convenient access to restaurants, pubs, and the Grandstand.
Let’s take a look at each of the Epsom Downs Racecourse’s enclosures and the great advantages they each provide:
Experience the familiar electrified sensation as the horses gallop past you down the finishing line toward the Winning Post, right in the heart of the action.
The Cazoo Derby Festival follows the standard Derby Festival dress code on both days. The Grandstand Enclosure has no formal dress code, but smart attire is recommended.
The Queen’s Stand
You can follow the horses all the way to the track from the Parade Ring with a ticket in Epsom’s most premium viewing stand – before setting up camp on the steppings or in the Queen’s Stand Lawn to watch the races.
From The Queen’s Stand, you’ll be able to watch the world’s best flat racing thoroughbreds storm home to victory thanks to direct views of the finishing straight and Winning Post.
The Moët & Chandon Terrace
The Moët & Chandon Terrace, located within the Queen’s Stand luxury enclosure, provides the perfect atmosphere for a day at the races, whether it’s for The Derby Festival or any other meeting or race day on Epsom Down’s racing calendar.
Starting with a fresh champagne cocktail, explore the Moët & Chandon range before taking a brief walk to see the horses in the Parade Ring or merely take in the elevated views around the racecourse. We’re confident you’ll have an unforgettable experience.
A Moët & Chandon Terrace package includes all of the following:
- A ticket for The Queen’s Stand
- Exclusive access to the Moët & Chandon Terrace

The Great British Picnic
Witness the horses making a dash for victory up the finishing straight from a comfortable spot with easy access to bars and betting facilities. Enjoy the atmosphere of Epsom Downs Racecourse from the warmth of your own picnic bench with friends and family.
Your picnic will be accompanied by a complimentary racecard, and the hamper will be yours to take home at the end of the day. Please note that you are not permitted to bring any additional food or drink into this enclosure.
You can pick your viewing position along the finishing straight all the way up to the winner’s post thanks to The Lonsdale’s positioning on the opposite side of the track from the Stands.
Although you are welcome to bring your own picnics, this area also has bookmakers, food, and beverage concessions to enhance your experience.
In this zone, there is no dress code; simply come as you are, relax, and enjoy the experience. In this enclosure, foldable chairs and tables are allowed.
Cheer on the horse as it turns the pivotal Tattenham Corner into the straight, galloping towards the Winning Post, from the breathtaking trackside view extending from the Stands to the famed Tattenham Corner.
You can bring your own food and drink into this zone, eat at one of the several food and beverage vendors, or upgrade to a Great British Picnic, which guarantees you a shaded picnic table by the tracks.
The Hillside Enclosure
There are two areas in the Hillside Enclosure: the Family Zone and the Garden Party. The Hillside Enclosure provides a genuinely special opportunity to witness the likes of the Greatest Flat Race in the World, The Epsom Derby, while also experiencing The Hill’s thrilling atmosphere.
Exclusive toilet facilities, bars and betting facilities, and catering units offering a range of options are available in both the Family Zone and the Garden Party. Picnics are also allowed, as are foldable chairs and tables. Picnics will be screened at the gate and only a certain amount of alcohol is allowed per user.
The Garden Party is exactly what it sounds like: delicious food, giant garden games, and live music make this a great place to unwind while witnessing any of Epsom’s incredible racedays.
Anything from a helter-skelter and carousels to face painters and giant colouring walls can be found in the Family Zone. There’s enough to keep the little ones occupied as you take them to one of Britain’s most famous days out.
People flock to dance by the stage, pitch their picnics, and explore the wonders of the festival, funfair, and racing at The Hill, the popular free area at the heart of the racecourse and the heart of the party.
The party lasts all day, with live music, stalls, and the funfair continuing long after the races have concluded.
Open Top Buses & Coaches
Buses and coaches are an important and long-standing feature of the Derby Festival experience and are well-known for being a fun way to set up camp for the day.
You can bring your own or hired open-top buses and coaches and park up in The Walton Enclosure, next to The Lonsdale Enclosure, and enjoy the racing from your own private space with an exceptional view of The Racecourse.
