The EBF Novice Median Auction Stakes is a Class 4 European Breeders Fund flat race for novices that serves as the opening race of The Glass Times Race Day at Epsom Downs Racecourse every year.

Exclusively open to horses aged just two years old, The EBF Novice Median Auction Stakes runs 7 furlongs and 3 yards of Epsom Downs Racecourse and usually features a small to medium-sized field of runners.

A share of £7,400 was to fight for last time out, which was split proportionately between the first four finishers in the following fashion:

1st place – 2/7 Afraid Of Nothing (GB) – £4,787

2nd place – 66/1 Moondance (GB) – £1,424

3rd place – 50/1 Pure Purfection (IRE) – £712

Hollydaze, the 4/1 priced second-favourite, won The EBF Novice Median Auction Stakes at Epsom’s Glass Times Race Day meeting in 2017 ridden by jockey Silvestre De Sousa and trained by Richard Hughes.

6/1 priced King Of The Sand finished two lengths behind Hollydaze in second place, followed by equally priced Hateya in third place and 14/1 priced Rosedale Topping in fourth.

2016

Back in 2016, the winner of The EBF Novice Median Auction Stakes at Epsom Downs Racecourse was 4/7 priced strong race favourite Maldonado, ridden by jockey Jim Crowley and trained by Charlie Appleby.

10/1 priced Akkadian Empire finished a length and three-quarters behind Maldonado in second place, followed by 33/1 priced outsider Mullarkey in third place and 5/1 priced joint second-favourite in fourth.
