2020 was the summer of Love, with Aiden O’Brien’s filly producing a phenomenal performance on the Epsom Downs in July.

The 1000 Guineas winner headed to The Oaks as the hotly-backed favourite and the three-year-old lived up to the expectation.

After launching from the stalls, Love was held up in the rear for the majority of the contest before making headway after departing the Tattenham Corner.

Aidan O’Brien’s Love was not for catching in the 2020 Oaks

Ryan Moore asked for more on the three furlong marker and the filly responded gamely, taking the lead from stablemate Ennistymon with two furlongs remaining.

The three-year-old continued to push clear, producing an incredible turn of foot to storm away from the chasing pack.

Aidan O’Brien’s talent asserted her dominance in impressive fashion, winning by an eye-catching nine lengths.

Love would go on to land one more Group 1 contest in the 2020 season, winning the Yorkshire Oaks at the Ebor Festival. It is confirmed that she will return to compete as a four-year-old this season.

Did you know? Aidan O’Brien is most successful current trainer in The Oaks, winning the contest eight times since 1998.
