Wednesday has several Group contests in store at Glorious Goodwood, with a field of 11 declared in the Group 3 Molecombe Stakes.
FEARBY (11/4) is a justified favourite following his performance at Sandown earlier in the month, as Edward Bethell’s colt thundered clear of his rivals in the Listed Dragon Stakes at Sandown.
The two-year-old landed some black type at the first time of asking, showing impressive speed when picking up and running on well in the final furlong to win by five lengths.
The Havana Gold colt should continue to show progress here and he is the one to beat here if he can cope with the heavy ground
CHIPOTLE (3/1) landed an upset at Royal Ascot last month for Eve Johnson Houghton, when he outran his odds of 22/1 to land the Listed Windsor Castle Stakes.
The two-year-old didn’t get the chance to show his potential on his last start in the Super Sprint Stakes at Newbury ten days ago, as he was constantly short of room throughout the contest.
He should give a better account at Goodwood, but the heavy ground does raise question marks here.
KABOO (7/1) has finished behind both of the top two in the betting, as his two starts to date for Karl Burke came in the Windsor Castle and the Dragon Stakes.
The More Than Ready colt has conditions against him here and he will need to improve on his first two starts if he is to be competitive here.
ARMOR (8/1) gets another chance to land some black type after finishing fifth in Listed company at Royal Ascot for Richard Hannon, while Kevin Ryan’s BOONIE (11/1) has been consistent on his first three career starts.
MOJOMAKER (14/1) has five lengths to find on Fearby but could improve here for David Loughnane and Andrew Balding’s NYMPHADORA (14/1) is dropped down in class following his run in the Queen Mary Stakes.
CHIMGAN (20/1) is given his first start in Listed company for Clive Cox, while Martyn Meade’s SWAYZE (25/1) showed remarkable improvement on his second start at Yarmouth.
John Bridger’s ARBOY WILL (33/1) and Ed Walker’s KINGBOARD STAR (33/1) complete the line-up.
