ITV Racing Best Bets

A busy weekend of racing lies in wait for punters, with nine races pencilled into ITV Racing’s Saturday schedule.

The team have taken a look through the declarations, naming their three best bets for the racing on offer.

Here are their selections for Saturday’s ITV Racing schedule.

BEST BET: Universal Order – 2:40 Newmarket (11/4 – bet365)

Under the guidance of David Simcock, Universal Order could put up a big performance in the Listed Fred Archer Stakes at Newmarket.

The gelding put a respectable performance last time out at Haydock, finishing second at odds of 28/1.

That form has been franked since, with fifth place Reshoun running a cracker at Royal Ascot and fourth place HMS President landing success at Goodwood.

He could show further progression here for his connections, with his price of 11/4 looking great value for him to strike here.

NEXT BEST: Laneqash – 3:15 Newmarket (11/4 – William Hill)

A consistent performer for Roger Varian, Laneqash looks an interesting bet in the Group 3 Criterion Stakes.

The four-year-old is lightly raced for his age, but he is proven to be competitive in the majority of his starts, placing in the top four of runners in six of his seven runs.

The gelding was beaten by Pogo last time out, but the six-year-old now carries a penalty and these two rivals are on the exact same mark.

If he runs as well as he did last time, he will likely be in the mix here.

LONGSHOT: Alright Sunshine – 3:30 Newcastle (18/1 – Various)

A gelding in fair form for his connections as of late, Alright Sunshine could put up a big effort in the Northumberland Plate at Newcastle.

Keith Dalgleish’s recruit has run well this term, placing in the Copper Horse Stakes at Royal Ascot as well as running well in two big field handicaps at Haydock and Musselburgh.

The seven-year-old remains at a workable mark and he has been partnered back up with Billy Garrity once again.

Today’s trip will be right up his street and he could run well at a decent each-way price here.
