Blakeney Point – 2.45 Chester (40/1 – Various)
Several dual-code runners head to Cheshire to compete in the Chester Cup, but an experienced gelding from Donald McCain’s yard could prove to be huge value here.
Blakeney Point was last seen tacking hurdles two weeks ago, but the eight-year-old has been switched back to the flat for the first time since September 2019.
McCain’s gelding was the market favourite for this contest four years ago, but he was disappointing as he found next to nothing off the bridle.
However, he has been victorious on his previous two starts at the course, winning the Listed Stand Cup Stakes and a two-mile handicap.
The touch of softer ground will benefit Blakeney Point here and with a huge price at 40/1, he could well get into the top six places at Chester.
