The recent rain should be a benefit for John & Thady Gosden’s colt, whose two wins to date came with a bit of juice in the ground.

There wasn’t a lot wrong with his handicap debut at Sandown Park and the only substance of form following that contest has been positive, so he is surely worth another chance here.

A few of these rivals are looking a bit more exposed and he is sure to go close off an unchanged mark of 96.

Perhaps the answer here is with Ryan Moore’s mount who finished a fine third at Ascot on debut and should strip fitter for the experience.

Plenty of his rivals that day had the benefit of a run but he plugged on creditably to make the podium and can take the gold here on that evidence.

He’s bred to want a bit of a trip in time but there’s a lot to like about his chances on his reappearance.
