Hurricane Lane saw his price for the Derby slashed down to 6/1 after he rallied late on to land the Dante Stakes at York.

The Godolphin recruit looked outpaced with three furlongs to go, but an enthusiastic ride from William Buick sparked the colt into life in the closing stages.

Charlie Appleby’s recruit reeled in the long-time leader Roman Empire in the final furlong alongside the imposing Megallan.

The son of Frankel battled on gamely in the closing strides, getting the better of John & Thady Gosden’s colt to claim success by three-quarters of a length.

Aidan O’Brien’s High Definition produced a quick turn of foot to claim third, but the Ballydoyle representative was a little too late to catch the leading pair in front.

Queen Power cruised to victory as she recorded her first victory in Grouped company, landing the Middleton Fillies’ Stakes for Sir Michael Stoute.

The mare tracked the leader Chamade in the home straight, barely coming out of first gear as she overtook her with two furlongs remaining.

Silvestre De Sousa pushed his mount on and she responded, quickening clear with ease to win by eight lengths.

Tim Easterby’s Winter Power impressed in the Listed Westow Stakes, as the colt made all at a decent pace to claim victory on the Knavesmire.

The three-year-old looked comfortable throughout and was barely challenged by the rest of the field.

He defied his penalty with ease, bolting up to win by three lengths.

Copper Knight justified favouritism in the 5f handicap as he landed his fifth C&D victory and a double for Easterby, while David Barron’s Kynren (tipped up at 14/1 as today’s longshot bet) made up late ground to snatch success on the line in the 1m handicap.

28/1 shot Lusail caused an upset in the 6f maiden stakes for Richard Hannon, while Keith Dalgleish’s Raymond claimed the 2m½f handicap.
